Sports Massages and World Masters Games

Are you participating in the World Masters Games here in NZ during April 2017?  There are many benefits of having regular sports massages before and after your event.

Benefits of regular sports massage for Athletes

World Masters GamesAs both an athlete and a therapist I understand the benefits of having regular sports or deep tissue massage as part of your training programme.

Much research now proves that that the benefits of having regular sports massage has both positive physiological and psychological health benefits on athletes:

Physiological benefits – Regular sports helps the cardiovascular system. It helps dilate blood vessels, which helps them work more efficiently, promoting circulation throughout the body and stimulates the lymphatic system helping to drain and flush toxins and lactic acid built-up in the muscles to the lymph nodes encouraging the body to detoxify.

Psychological benefits – regular sports massage also assists significantly in the reduction of stress, tension and anxiety and in turn promotes activating the parasympathetic nervous system.  An increase in ‘feel good’ hormones such as dopamine and serotonin levels are released in the body and ‘’stress hormones’ such as cortisol levels, and adrenaline are reduced.

In summary, sports massages will:

  • Reduce muscle tension and spasm
  • Increase range of motion
  • Improve muscle tone
  • Decrease muscle stiffness and soreness after exercise (DOMS)
  • Enhance athletic performance
  • Promotes relaxation
  • Help prevent injuries

Here’s what some of my clients have to say:

“I have been seeing Jayshree regularly at Bodyinsync clinic for over 5 years now and won’t go anywhere else…. Jayshree works miracles! Her unique blend of therapeutic sports massage, deep tissue and hot stone massage helps me to relax and rejuvenate my body. I look forward to my weekly appointments as she works her magic”.

– Millie McMurdock

“Just awesome! I have had many sport massages all over the world, but I can frankly state that Jayshree is definitely number one ranked for this. She understands your pains or problems and her technique, her experience and her strength in her hands provide a nice and strong pressure if you like it or need it. More importantly, your body feels in the following hours a real relief and it gets ready to new performance – highly recommended!”
